摘要

The charge transfer reaction Ar+ + N2 --> Ar + N2+ has been investigated in acrossed beam experiment in combination with three-dimensional velocity mapimaging. Angular differential state-to-state cross sections were determined asa function of the collision energy. We found that scattering into the firstexcited vibrational level dominates as expected, but only for scattering in theforward direction. Higher vibrational excitations up to v'=6 have been observedfor larger scattering angles. For decreasing collision energy, scattering intohigher scattering angles becomes increasingly important for all kinematicallyallowed quantum states. Our detailed measurements indicate that a quantitativeagreement between experiment and theory for this basic ion-molecule reactionnow comes within reach.
